We built Mushroom Tracker for foragers who understand that some locations are meant to stay private. Your spots are private by default. On the free plan they stay on your device; with Premium they are also backed up to your own account, where only you can read them. They are never shared unless you choose to share them.
Every experienced forager knows the pain: you share a productive location on social media or with the wrong person, and within weeks it's picked clean. Overharvesting has made some species locally extinct.
Social media and location-tagging apps have accelerated this problem. Places where wild plants like ramps used to grow abundantly have been decimated. Chanterelle patches that produced for decades are gone. This isn't just about losing "your" spots - it's about sustainable foraging for everyone.
Your exact coordinates are stored locally on your device. On the free plan nothing is uploaded. Premium adds cloud backup and sync, which copies your spots to your own account — protected so only your account can read them, and never visible to other users.
When you choose to share, we blur location to an approximate 1–10 km radius — you choose the blur level. Others see the general area without your exact pin. Enough to help, not enough to burn.
Nothing you pin is shared unless you post it yourself — to a foray, to the identification review queue, or to the marketplace. The general public sees nothing.
Unlike other apps, we don't require an account or cloud backup to save your spots. On the free plan your data stays on your device. Premium backs your spots up to your account and syncs them to a new phone, so a lost phone doesn't cost you years of finds.
