Description

Corrugated Milk Cap has large orange-brown cap (7-20 cm) with distinctive WRINKLED or CORRUGATED surface - like wavy ridges. Gills cream, close, staining brown. Stem similar color. KEY: ABUNDANT WHITE LATEX, FISHY ODOR. Larger than L. volemus with deeply wrinkled cap. Flesh white. Spore print white.

Habitat & Distribution

Habitat: Mycorrhizal with HARDWOODS, especially oak. Grows on ground in hardwood forests. Common in eastern US. Scattered or groups.

Region: Eastern US, Midwest, Southeast

Seasonality

Summer through fall (July-October).
