Description

Olive Russula has olive-brown to olive-green cap (5-12 cm), sticky. Gills yellowish. Stem white. KEY: OLIVE CAP color, BRITTLE FLESH, yellowish gills. Flesh white. Spore print ochre. Mild to slightly acrid.

Habitat & Distribution

Habitat: Mycorrhizal with hardwoods, especially beech and oak. Grows on ground in deciduous forests. European species. Scattered.

Region: Europe, Eastern US

Summer through fall (July-October).
