Description

Tacky Green Russula has grass-green to olive-green cap (4-10 cm), sticky when wet. Gills white to cream. Stem white. KEY: GREEN CAP, BRITTLE CHALKY FLESH, NO LATEX, sticky cap. Flesh white. Spore print white to pale cream. Mild to slightly acrid.

Habitat & Distribution

Habitat: Mycorrhizal with birch and other hardwoods. Grows on ground in deciduous forests, especially near birch. European and North American. Scattered.

Region: Northeast, Midwest, Europe

Seasonality

Summer through fall (July-October).
