Description

Yellow Swamp Russula has bright yellow cap (3-10 cm), sticky. Gills white to cream. Stem white. KEY: BRIGHT YELLOW CAP, BRITTLE FLESH, grows in WET/BOGGY areas. Flesh white. Spore print white to cream. Mild to slightly acrid.

Habitat & Distribution

Habitat: Mycorrhizal with birch and willow in WET areas - swamps, bogs, wet woods. Distinctive wetland habitat. Northern species. Scattered.

Region: Northeast, Upper Midwest, Canada, Northern Europe

Seasonality

Summer through fall (July-September).
